Summer Fun!

Now that the weather has graced us with sun, it is time to really enjoy what a wonderful city we have. There are so many activities around that it would take me several pages just to list them, so I will just mention a few that I love and should be experienced if given the chance.

It is neighborhood festival season and with that comes the opportunity to enjoy some of the diversity this city has to offer not to mention the incredibly talented creative community Chicago. There are so many food, music and arts festivals to mention. From ribs to pierogi, there is something for everyone to eat. Blues, Jazz, and Gospel music are all showcased in their individual festivals. There are several art festivals in different neighborhoods that help local and other artists promote and display their various forms of paintings, sculpture and jewelry.

Millenium and Grant Parks are full of all of the above during the summer. Almost every night, concerts can be heard in the incredibly designed Pritzker Pavillion. Summer dance is very popular with different types of dance being performed, taught and enjoyed on the weekend nights. There are several places to grab a bite to eat and sit and enjoy the kids (and a few adults) playing in the fountain or people watching near the bean. Buckingham fountain erupts every hour on the hour from 9:00am until 10:00pm with a light show accompanying the fountain after dark.

The beach is just a five minutes away by foot. There are several companies that rent everything from bicycles to beach chairs for the day. Day trips to Oak Park and Hyde Park allow visitors to enjoy the wonderful architecture of Frank Lloyd Wright. Wicker Park has an eclectic mix of Bohemia and Designer Boutiques. Wrigleyville is a mixture of bars, restaurants and shopping not to mention one of the oldest baseball fields still being used (daily tours are available).

This is such a small sample of the wonderful things to do around the city during the next couple of months. The city is always full of activities, festivals, and events. Please see the concierge for tour information, rental information and times and directions to any of the many happenings during summer 2011.

Enjoy!
Jeff
